Arash’s “His Kingdom” Monologue

ARASH: Do you know what I’ve decided? I’ve decided that I’m tired. I’ve decided that I’m tired of being patient. Well, I no longer care for patience anymore. I’ve given up on waiting. I’m going to go out there and breathe the living daylights out of this. I’m going to suck it all up and sink my teeth into it like a vulture…but like a vulture eating fruit.

When I walk in there, I’ll look her in the eye with love and courage, do you know why? Because I’ve waited so long that it’s all turned into love, all the pain, the anger and the frustration of it all, has turned into love. That’s what happens when you’ve been patient for many years, you either go mad or you turn into a saint.

I’m not going to go mad, you see, so what then is the alternative? That’s why she will never get the best of me and she will keep trying, we’ve had our close calls…but when it scratches, I smile. I just smile, like this my eyes open up and warms my entire body, I think of great valleys, huge mountains…and I see myself right amongst it all, breathing in the air of this great kingdom. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? Yes. You were a great fighter in your day…so I know you understand. Only the real ones do. And you were one of them Mother.

Arash has been writing stories ever since he could hold a pencil! What started out as an intrinsic love for storytelling has turned into his lifelong passion. There’s nothing he likes better than writing (and reading) stories that is humorous in English and Persian languages, with a touch of Suspense and a poignant streak of truth running through them. Arash is also a YouTuber, Persian singer/songwriter, blogger, traveler, filmmaker, big dreamer, and professional kabob eater. When he’s not writing or dreaming up new stories, you can find him in an adventure road-tripping to national parks!
