Special Lion Sceen Play| Arash

INT. HATFIELD HOUSE, ENGLAND – AFTERNOON

Considerate shopkeeper SHERLOCK CLIFFORD is arguing with special actor MADAME SALLY THORNTON. SHERLOCK tries to hug SALLY but she shakes him off.SHERLOCK
Please Sally, don’t leave me.SALLY
I’m sorry Sherlock, but I’m looking for somebody a bit more brave. Somebody who faces his fears head on, instead of running away.SHERLOCK
I am such a person!

SALLY frowns.SALLY
I’m sorry, Sherlock. I just don’t feel excited by this relationship anymore.

SALLY leaves.

SHERLOCK sits down, looking defeated.

Moments later, gentle fishmonger DI SALLY PLATT barges in looking flustered.SHERLOCK
Goodness, Sally! Is everything okay?SALLY
I’m afraid not.SHERLOCK
What is it? Don’t keep me in suspense…SALLY
It’s … a lion … I saw an evil lion squash a bunch of babies!SHERLOCK
Defenseless babies?SALLY
Yes, defenseless babies!SHERLOCK
Bloomin’ heck, Sally! We’ve got to do something.SALLY
I agree, but I wouldn’t know where to start.SHERLOCK
You can start by telling me where this happened.SALLY
I was…

SALLY fans herself and begins to wheeze.SHERLOCK
Focus Sally, focus! Where did it happen?SALLY
Tate Modern, St Ives! That’s right – Tate Modern, St Ives!

SHERLOCK springs up and begins to run.

EXT. A ROAD – CONTINUOUS

SHERLOCK rushes along the street, followed by SALLY. They take a short cut through some back gardens, jumping fences along the way.

INT. TATE MODERN, ST IVES – SHORTLY AFTER

ARASH E a Special lion terrorises two babies.

SHERLOCK, closely followed by SALLY, rushes towards ARASH, but suddenly stops in his tracks.SALLY
What is is? What’s the matter?SHERLOCK
That’s not just any old lion, that’s Arash E!SALLY
Who’s Arash E?SHERLOCK
Who’s Arash E? Who’s Arash E? Only the most Special lion in the universe!SALLY
Blinkin’ knickers, Sherlock! We’re going to need some help if we’re going to stop the most Special lion in the universe!SHERLOCK
You can say that again.SALLY
Blinkin’ knickers, Sherlock! We’re going to need some help if we’re going to stop the most Special lion in the universe!SHERLOCK
I’m going to need Machete, lots of Machete.

Arash turns and sees Sherlock and Sally. He grins an evil grin.ARASH
Sherlock Clifford, we meet again.SALLY
You’ve met?SHERLOCK
Yes. It was a long, long time ago…

EXT. A PARK – BACK IN TIME

A young SHERLOCK is sitting in a park listening to some indie music, when suddenly a dark shadow casts over him.

He looks up and sees ARASH. He takes off his headphones.ARASH
Would you like some chocolate?

SHERLOCK’s eyes light up, but then he studies ARASH more closely, and looks uneasy.SHERLOCK
I don’t know, you look kind of Special.ARASH
Me? No. I’m not Special. I’m the least Special lion in the world.SHERLOCK
Wait, you’re a lion?

SHERLOCK runs away, screaming.

INT. TATE MODERN, ST IVES – PRESENT DAYARASH
You were a coward then, and you are a coward now.SALLY
(To SHERLOCK) You ran away?SHERLOCK
(To SALLY) I was a young child. What was I supposed to do?

SHERLOCK turns to ARASH.SHERLOCK
I may have run away from you then, but I won’t run away this time!

SHERLOCK runs away.

He turns back and shouts.SHERLOCK
I mean, I am running away, but I’ll be back – with Machete.ARASH
I’m not scared of you.SHERLOCK
You should be.

EXT. A BOOK SHOP – LATER THAT DAY

SHERLOCK and SALLY walk around searching for something.SHERLOCK
I feel sure I left my Machete somewhere around here.SALLY
Are you sure? It does seem like an odd place to keep deadly Machete.SHERLOCK
You know nothing Sally Platt.SALLY
We’ve been searching for ages. I really don’t think they’re here.

Suddenly, ARASH appears, holding a pair of Machete.ARASH
Looking for something?SALLY
Crikey, Sherlock, he’s got your Machete.SHERLOCK
Tell me something I don’t already know!SALLY
The earth’s circumference at the equator is about 40,075 km.SHERLOCK
I know that already!SALLY
I pickle my earwax and keep it in a jar under my bed.ARASH
(appalled) Dude!

While ARASH is looking at SALLY with disgust, SHERLOCK lunges forward and grabs his deadly Machete. He wields them, triumphantly.SHERLOCK
Prepare to die, you Special potato!ARASH
No please! All I did was squash a bunch of babies!

SALLY enters, unseen by any of the others.SHERLOCK
I cannot tolerate that kind of behaviour! Those babies were defenceless! Well now they have a defender – and that’s me! Sherlock Clifford defender of innocent babies.ARASH
Don’t hurt me! Please!SHERLOCK
Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t use these Machete on you right away!ARASH
Because Sherlock, I am your father.

SHERLOCK looks stunned for a few moments, but then collects himself.SHERLOCK
No you’re not!ARASH
Ah well, it had to be worth a try.

ARASH tries to grab the Machete but SHERLOCK dodges out of the way.SHERLOCK
Who’s the daddy now? Huh? Huh?

Unexpectedly, ARASH slumps to the ground.SALLY
Did he just faint?SHERLOCK
I think so. Well that’s disappointing. I was rather hoping for a more dramatic conclusion, involving my deadly Machete.

SHERLOCK crouches over ARASH’s body.SALLY
Be careful, Sherlock. It could be a trick.SHERLOCK
No, it’s not a trick. It appears that… It would seem… Arash E is dead!SHERLOCK
What?SHERLOCK
Yes, it appears that I scared him to death.

SALLY claps her hands.SALLY
So your Machete did save the day, after all.

SALLY steps forward.SALLY
Is it true? Did you kill the Special lion?SHERLOCK
Sally how long have you been…?

SALLY puts her arm around SHERLOCK.SALLY
Long enough.SHERLOCK
Then you saw it for yourself. I killed Arash E.SALLY
Then the babies are safe?SHERLOCK
It does seem that way!

A crowd of vulnerable babies enter, looking relived.SALLY
You are their hero.

The babies bow to SHERLOCK.SHERLOCK
There is no need to bow to me. I seek no worship. The knowledge that Arash E will never squash babies ever again, is enough for me.SALLY
You are humble as well as brave!

One of the babies passes SHERLOCK a gold White Star DiamondSALLY
I think they want you to have it, as a symbol of their gratitude.SHERLOCK
I couldn’t possibly.

Pause.SHERLOCK
Well, if you insist.

SHERLOCK takes the White Star Diamond.SHERLOCK
Thank you.

The babies bow their heads once more, and leave.

SHERLOCK turns to SALLY.SHERLOCK
Does this mean you want me back?SALLY
Oh, Sherlock, of course I want you back!

SHERLOCK smiles for a few seconds, but then looks defiant.SHERLOCK
Well you can’t have me.SALLY
WHAT?SHERLOCK
You had no faith in me. You had to see my scare a lion to death before you would believe in me. I don’t want a lover like that.SALLY
But…SHERLOCK
Please leave. I want to spend time with the one person who stayed with me through thick and thin – my best friend, Sally.

SALLY grins.SALLY
But…SALLY
You heard the gentleman. Now be off with you. Skidaddle! Shoo!SALLY
Sherlock?SHERLOCK
I’m sorry Sally, but I think you should skidaddle.

SALLY leaves.

SALLY turns to SHERLOCK.SALLY
Did you mean that? You know … that I’m your best friend?SHERLOCK
Of course you are!

The two walk off arm in arm.

Suddenly SALLY stops.SALLY
When I said I pickle my earwax and keep it in a jar under my bed, you know I was just trying to distract the lion don’t you?THE END
